Dhusamareb (SD) – The consultative meeting of Somalia’s regional leaders in Dhusamareb released a communique on the conclusion of its first phase.

The meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation in the areas of politics, security, economy and strengthening the process of state building and after a long discussions released these five key points.

1- Strengthen the cooperation of the Federal Member States in matters of political, security and economic development

2-That the election of the Federal Government of Somalia in the 2020/2021 period be held on time and not come without a term extension.

3-That the road map of the election process be inclusive, and allows the election to happen within its current allocated time frame.

4-That the President of the Federal Government and the Prime Minister and the Presidents of the Federal Member States meet for a consultation to discuss the technical road map for the 2020/2021 presidential election and that meeting should take palace in Dhusamareb.

5-The Conference appreciated the support of the International Community in establishing Somali state.

The Somali federal leaders are said to have excepted to meet the regional leaders in Dhusamareb in the next few days.
