MOGADISHU (SD)-Some Somali religious clerics held a meeting today in Mogadishu, where they strongly opposed Ethiopia’s territorial ambitions concerning Somali territory and expressed their support for the relationship between Egypt and Somalia.
During the meeting, the scholars explicitly warned against Ethiopia’s aggression on Somali territory, stating that it was unacceptable and needed to be prevented.
The clerics warmly welcomed the relationship between Egypt and Somalia, highlighting that Egypt is a Muslim country with a longstanding cooperative relationship with Somalia.
They also emphasized that it is a religious duty to oppose Ethiopia’s violations.
The scholars also called for the defense of the independence and unity of the Somali nation, to unite in defending the religion and the country, and to avoid anything that could disrupt the unity of the people.
They warned against individuals who incite and divide the community.
They called on the government to create an environment for dialogue with those who have grievances to strengthen unity.
They urged Ethiopia to respect good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence between the peoples of the two countries.
