Somalia, AMISOM prepare transition plan for ATMIS

MOGADISHU (SD) – A conference on the implementation of Somalia’s restructured National Security Plan, organized by the Office of the National Security of the Somali Presidency, concluded in Mogadishu today.

The conference was attended by officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, representatives from the Regional Governments, the Benadir Region and Somalia’s security partners.

“In the reform, Somalia will take full responsibility for the security of the country, with the full support of its security partners, which has been in the works for some time, was agreed upon today, and will be presented to the Security Council on the 31st of this month. United Nations, ” statement from Somalia said.

The plan paves the way for the end of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and for the 2024 take over of the Transitional African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

“Meanwhile, the strategic standards and objectives that guide the mission of the ATMIS operation, the termination plan and the withdrawal plan have been agreed upon, in line with the Somali government’s guidelines.” said the statement.

Various officials who attended the conference welcomed the Implementation of the Somali Security Plan (STP), underlining the full readiness of the Government Transfer responsibility for national security to Somalia by 2024.
