MOGADISHU (SD)-The Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations jointly held the annual meeting of the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) in Mogadishu to discuss progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Somalia (2021-2025).
The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mahamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), and the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, George Conway. The focus was on strategic discussions and aligning UN support with the priority plans of the Federal Government of Somalia.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Federal Government of Somalia and heads of UN agencies operating in the country. Key outcomes included the presentation and approval of the 2023 United Nations Somalia Results Report and the strategic plan for 2024. They reviewed the achievements of 2023 and outlined the strategic plan for the coming year.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2021-2025) serves as the strategic plan guiding joint support from UN agencies to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Federal Government of Somalia.
