Mogadishu January 26, 2023 (SD) – Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The meeting approved and appointed a new chief of the Somali police force and an agreement on the establishment of Eastern African security forces.
The council approved the Internal Security Ministry’s nomination of General Sulub Ahmed Firin as the new chief of the Somali police force.
Additionally, the council approved an agreement on the establishment of Eastern African security forces, which will include nine countries: Somalia, Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, and Uganda.
The aim of this agreement is to implement peacekeeping, security, and stability in the region.
