Somalia demands IGAD to dismiss Djibouti’s Fact-Finding report

Mogadishu (SD) – The Federal Government of Somalia has called on IGAD to dismiss a report submitted by the Fact-Finding Commission on its border with Kenya, saying the report has had a significant impact on Kenya.

A statement from Somalia’s foreign ministry highlighted several indications that the Djiboutian commission was biased towards Kenya.

The Somali government also said the commission’s report seriously undermines Djibouti’s neutrality and status as a trusted and neutral partner, and requested that IGAD sends a multi-country fact-finding mission.

The Somali federal government added that if IGAD ignores the request, it has the right to go through the African Union and the UN Security Council, if necessary.
