LUUQ (SD) – A military counrt in southern Somalia has today executed a military officer who was convicted of killing a civilian in Gedo region.

The convicted military officer was found guilty of shooting dead an auto-rickshaw driver in March 2021.

In a statement, the military court in Luuq district in Gedo region said that Abdi Hassan Dhafoor faced the firing squad for killing Sugow Garane Iyow on March 3, 2020 in Luuq.

The circumstances surrounding the killing of Iyow, an auto-rickshaw driver remained unclear.

Relatives of the deceased attended the execution which was conducted at an open space in the area.
