Kismayo (SD) Reports from the port city of Kismayo confirm that a car bomb had exploded at a police station in the port city of Kismayo.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a bus carrying players to Wamo football stadium.

The players on the bus were from the JCCI team in Kismayo, according to sources.

Reports say that the blast caused casualties but the exact extent of the damage is not yet known.

The car hit by the blast was completely burnt, security forces and paramedics arrived at the scene of the blast and began attending to the players.

There was no immediate word from the Jubaland administration as the blast came at a time when security in Kismayo has been tightened following yesterday’s Upper House elections.
