Somalia federal and regional leaders issue 8-point communique in Dhusamareb

Dhusamareb (SD) – An eight-point press release was issued at the meeting of Somalia’s Federal and Regional state Governments in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug.

The summit brought together the federal President and his Prime Minister, Presidents of Galmudug, South West, Jubaland and Hirshabelle, the meeting was chaired by President Farmajo.

The leaders discussed the political, economic and security environment of the country, and focused on issues of elections, and the leaders agreed:

1-The conference strengthened the unity and solidarity of the country and the people of Somalia

2-The Conference agreed to intensify cooperation between the Federal Government and Member States in stabilizing the country and in the fight against terrorism.

3-The Conference also agreed to strengthen economic development issues and the debt forgiveness process in Somalia.

4-The leaders agreed to hold timely and credible elections in the country.

5-The leaders agreed to establish a technical committee from the Federal Government of Somalia and Member States. The commission will consider recommendations for the conduct of the country’s elections.

6-The leaders agreed to convene a second meeting in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug, within two weeks to complete the country’s electoral process.

7-The Conference thanked the Government and the people of Galmudug for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Somali leaders and delegates who attended the conference. Also the conference applauded the new Galmudug reconciliations which made the conference possible. This is due to the good leadership of the heads of state and the maturity of their people to lay the foundations for peace and development.

8-Finally, the Conference thanked the International Community for its significant contribution to the reconstruction and development of Somalia.
