MOGADISHU (SD) -A meeting of the Finance Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, the Regional Governments of the country, and the Banadir Region was held today in Mogadishu. The meeting will focus on economic development, the country’s financial system, and the country’s tax unification.
Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Biixi Imaan Cige, officially opened the meeting, emphasizing its importance in bringing together the Ministers of Finance from the Federal Government, the Regional States, and the Benadir Region. The Minister of Finance stated that discussions during the meeting would address issues crucial to the country’s economic development, revenue-sharing mechanisms, and strengthening fiscal policy following Somalia’s completion of the debt relief program.
The meeting of the Ministers of Finance from the Federal Government, Regional States, and the Benadir Region will also discuss development projects supported by international donors through the World Bank, aimed at benefiting Somalia and promoting shared prosperity.
This meeting, the 21st of its kind, involving the Ministers of Finance from the Federal Government, Regional States, and the Banadir Region, is expected to yield new agreements, with a joint communiqué to be issued at its conclusion. Despite the absence of the Minister of Finance of Puntland, the state was still represented at the meeting.
