MOGADISHU (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, chaired an urgent and important meeting today focused on combating the financing of terrorism.
The meeting included the National Committee of NAMLC, security agencies, and other key government entities, following the government’s previous successes in fighting the financing of terrorist groups.
The meeting concentrated on accelerating efforts to disrupt terrorist financing, resulting in strong decisions targeting anyone involved in funding terrorist activities.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasised that a firm hand would be taken against anyone participating in activities supporting terrorist financing.
The President instructed government agencies, especially security ones, to take swift and comprehensive measures to stop the extortion by Khawaarij (a term used for extremist groups) from the Somali public.
Additionally, President Hassan Sheikh issued a stern warning to businessmen and the Somali public, urging them to avoid dealing with extremist groups. He clarified that anyone found involved in financing terrorism would face strict legal actions.
The Federal Government of Somalia is intensifying its efforts to eradicate the threat of terrorism to strengthen the country’s security and stability.
