Mogadishu (SD) – Somali Federal Government officials have apologized for the shooting of a convoy escorting former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Federal Minister of Justice Abdulkadir Mohamed and Commander of the Somali Correctional Forces General Mahad Abdirahman Adan held a press conference at the Central Prison to express their outrage at the shooting of a convoy of vehicles carrying former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The Commander of the Corrections Force, General Mahad Abdirahman Adan, said that the act was unfortunate and that confrontations among the forces is unacceptable.
Somali Minister of Justice Abdulkadir Mohamed said the government regretted the incident and apologized to former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The Chief of Corrections and the Minister of Justice told the national media that the cause of the clash was being investigated.
There has been no word yet from the former Somali president who is currently running for the presidency.
