Mogadishu June 10, 2023 (SD) – Somali government forces, especially those trained to fight against terrorism, ended an Al Shabaab attack last night on the Pearl Beach restaurant in Lido Beach.

The attack on Pearl Beach was initiated with coordinated explosions, followed by intense gunfire inside the targeted hotel. The clashes lasted for several hours.

Officials from the government forces reported that the attack by Shabaab militants targeted the hotel.

They stated that the forces eliminated the attackers who had stormed the hotel, resulting in the deaths of up to five militants.

During the attack, the government forces have succeeded in rescuing many individuals who were trapped in the attacked area. Those rescued included officials and government troops.”
