Mogadishu April 07, 2023 (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, visited the Hiilweyne camp today, located between Mogadishu and the town of Balad, where he was welcomed by troops from the Somali National Army who recently completed training in Uganda.

The military-police forces have been tasked to participate in securing the safety of Mogadishu, as they confront the extremist group Al-Shabaab which targets innocent Somali civilians.

The President has urged the troops to fulfill their obligation to protect the security of Somali citizens, by setting a positive example to other military units responsible the restoration of peace in the country.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has called on the military to strengthen their discipline and rule of law, ensuring that their foremost responsibility is to protect the dignity, honor, and well-being of Somali citizens who suffer at the hands of Khawaarij extremists.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, the Governor of Benadir, and the Chief of the Somali Police Force.
