Somalia: National Parties Forum demands exclusivity for Mogadishu conference

Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s National Parties Forum has issued a request for the country’s political stakeholders to participate in all of President Farmajo meetings with the presidents of the Jubaland and Puntland regional states in Mogadishu.

“The forum considers the meeting to be a golden opportunity to reach an agreement on the 2020/2021 election process, therefore, the forum recommends that all leaders take advantage of the recommendations and decisions to come out of the meeting, and avoid creating a political turmoil in the country and its people, ”the Forum’s statement said.

The Forum recommended all member states to be involved in the much anticipated Mogadishu meeting between Farmajo, Deni and Ahmed Madobe “Forum urges expansion on all election related meetings and to be included the leadership of the political parties and civil organizations as to avoid anything that could lead to conflict.”

The forum also called for a review of the Dhusamareb 3 agreement, in particular “inconsistencies in the timing of the elections.”

The forum’s statement also criticized the president for not appointing a prime minister yet “The forum reminds the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia that he has not follow governmental norms of the last 20 years by not appointing a Prime Minister within 30 days, which means that the President is not yet serious about the country’s transition.”
