Mogadishu December 23, 2022 (SD) -The Somali government announced today that it plans to remove Al-Shabaab from the country within two years.

National Security Adviser to President Hussein Moalim Mohamud said Al-Shabaab existed in the country due to e governmental negligence and bad decision.

The national security adviser told the state media that Somalia used to rely on foreign governments in the fight against Al-Shabaab, but Somalis are self-sufficient now.

The Somali government mobilized local militias in the fight against Al-Shabaab and has since succeeded in taking over many districts from Al-Shabaab.
