Somalia PM and International Partners Discuss Elections

MOGADISHU-The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble, met with C6 + Representatives of the International Community, to deliberate on several matters related to the completion, transparency, and security of the country’s elections.

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble said he was committed to holding the elections on time, and no running candidate will be treated unfairly.

Commenting on the quota for women in the parliament, the Prime Minister stated it was necessary to ensure a 30% quota for women, which currently stands at 21%.

Prime Minister Roble reiterated that it would not be acceptable for security forces to interfere with the elections, or to exploit the military force to loot seats, and he urged the troops to maintain security at all costs.
