MOGADISHU (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a meeting today with military commanders and police chiefs to discuss the country’s security situation.
The President, after receiving a briefing from the Chief of the Army regarding the first phase of operations against AS, highlighted that the implementation of upcoming plans would yield positive results for the Somali people in the fight against the extremists.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud pointed out the significance of the military’s role in ensuring the security of the regions where instability is prevalent, stating that the success of the forces would greatly contribute to the protection of the Somali people against the threat of extremists.
He highlighted the commitment of the Somali National Army to confront the challenges posed by extremists in the country and mentioned that strengthening the capabilities of the local regional forces is a priority.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdikadir Mohamed Nur, the Chief of the Armed Forces, General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhudin, and the Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, General Sulub Ahmed Firin.
