Mahaas September 03, 2023 (SD) – Today, the district of Mahaas in Hiiraan Region welcomed the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and a delegation he leads in the city of Dhusamareeb.

Security in the district of Mahaas was heightened for the visit, with Members of Parliament from the Somali Parliament, ministers, and officials from the Hir-Shabelle administration present.

The purpose of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s visit to Mahaas is to assess the efforts against Al-Shabaab, especially after he recently spent time in Dhusamareeb.

The Minister of Interior for Hir-Shabelle, Abdi Dahir Guure Karoore, mentioned that the President will provide necessary support for the security of Hir-Shabelle regions and continue efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab from these areas.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been in Dhusamareeb for some time now, and during his stay, government troops and local militia have been deployed to several nearby areas to prevent any potential Al-Shabaab threats.
