MOGADISHU (SD) -The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has today met with the newly appointed US Ambassador to Somalia in Mogadishu.
PM Roble’s was accompanied by Minister of Security and Communications Abdullahi Mohamed Nur, and other members of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Prime Minister Roble and US Ambassador Larry André discussed strengthening ties between the two countries and proceeding the country’s elections, in particular the election of the 11th House of Representatives, which is more important than the presidency.
The two leaders also discussed security issues and the fight against terrorism, and the role of the United States in addressing the widespread drought in the country.
The meeting comes days after the US Secretary of State announced the imposition of sanctions against individuals accused of undermining democracy and intimidating journalists.
