Hargeisa December 06, 20222 (SD) – Somaliland is implementing a project meant to expand electricity, the cost of which is being financed through a World Bank loan to Somalia.
The World Bank is lending Somalia $150 million to expand electricity and Somaliland is getting $50 million of the loan.
The government of Somaliland previously rejected similar projects in the past, since Somalia insists on Somaliland making a request for such projects as a Somali regional state.
Somaliland, which declared independence in 1991, demands that all projects be given directly as an independent state.
