Garowe (SD) – Puntland Security Forces (PSF) have announced that they have carried out a planned operation against ISIS in the Mountains Bari Region.

A brief statement posted on PSF’s Facebook page said the operation was carried out in the villages of Timirshe & Tuurmasaale and the IlCamayra Mountains.

The statement did not say whether any ISIS members had been killed or captured during the operation, but only mentioned the areas where the operation took place.

The PSF, meanwhile, noted that local residents were grateful for the operation, due to fears of their region becoming possible ISIS hideout.

The mountainous regions reportedly have been a hideout for the group, with the regional administration trying to oust them.

ISIS did not comment on the news of the regional security forces (PSF) operations.
