Mogadishu October -4, 2023 (SD) – The Somali National Army, Galmudug forces, and South Mudug Community Defense forces engaged in a fierce battle in the vicinity of Shabelow, a rural area in the Mudug region.

The clash reportedly occurred as these forces were conducting a joint operation against Al-Shabaab.

According to reports from the army, this confrontation resulted in significant casualties inflicted on Al-Shabaab.

“Joint forces operating against the Khawaarij (extremists) received information about the presence of a group that aimed to initiate attacks and violence in the area. They launched a swift attack, engaging the enemy in a fierce battle that inflicted substantial casualties on the militants,” stated the statement from the military.

The military also mentioned that the operation targeted the hideouts that Al-Shabaab had established in the region.

“Once again, the forces confronted and launched an attack on their hideouts. The commanders of the forces have informed the National Media that the enemy suffered significant losses in the area,” the military communication added.
