Somalia: Speaker meets with traditional leaders under a tree

Hudur December 12, 2022 (SD) – The Speaker of the Somali Parliament Sheikh Adan Madobe, who is in Hudur district, today held various meetings with local regional officials.

The speaker also met with the South West traditional leaders under a tree, a Somali tradition, and discussed challenges they are facing in the regional state.

The traditional leaders complained about Al Shabaab militants in their region and asked the federal government for help.

Mr. Madobe recently called for a reconciliation meeting that will bring together intellectuals and politicians from the South West regions.

The regional state president’s term ends on the 19 of this month, this could spark a new round of uncertainty in South West state.
