Somalia: Speaker sets expectations for the upcoming session

Mogadishu (SD) – The Speaker of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, has sent a request to members of the Assembly and said that they have not yet attended the second session of the Assembly.

The speaker pointed out that it is difficult to reach a quorum, and he instructed the members of the House of Representatives who are abroad without permission to return to the country as soon as possible.

On the other hand, the Speaker instructed the Federal Government of Somalia led by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre to complete 9 draft laws, which were recently submitted to the Assembly.

Aden Madobe said that he has twice asked the government to submit the required completed bills, noting that the ones they currently have are drafts and are not completed.

The speaker also spoke strongly about the insecurity faced by some of the MPs.

Adan Madobe ordered that the security and defense committees of the council prepare a plan that deals with this matter and holds the relevant officials accountable so that it can be implemented.
