MOGADISHU (SD)-The Somali National Army announced that its forces killed an individual attempting to forcefully enter the Jaalle Siad military academy in the capital, Mogadishu.
In a brief statement, the military stated that there were no casualties among its forces, as they shot and killed the individual attempting to breach the gate of the Military Academy.
The statement added that the military maintains a high level of vigilance to thwart the threats posed by Al-Shabaab militants. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for today’s incident, and claimed that they had killed seven soldiers.
The identified individual attempting to forcefully enter was reportedly wearing a military uniform, enabling him to gain access to the vicinity of the compound. The security forces apprehended 14 individuals, including the commander of the Jaalle Siyaad Military Academy, allegedly for their failure to prevent the attacker from entering the compound.
In July of this year, a suicide attack targeted the Jaalle Siad compound, that attack resulted in casualties and injuries.
