Somalia to evaluate progress made since debt relief

MOGADISHU (SD) -The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Bihi Iman Egeh, along with the Minister of Planning and the Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia, today opened a week-long 1st Review of the ECF-Supported Programs in Somalia

The conference, which commenced today, will review the financial progress made by the Federal Government of Somalia three months after the country’s debt relief.

Key agenda items to be discussed at the conference include the government’s revenue generation, financial management framework, and the implementation of the National Development Plan.

Finance Minister Bihi Iman Egeh, in his opening remarks at the conference, stated that the Ministry of Finance and the Somali government as a whole have embraced critical reforms aimed at advancing government finances, with significant efforts made by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Ministries of federal member states.

Minister Egeh extended gratitude to all the participants, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Justice, the Central Bank, the Presidential and Prime Minister’s Offices, the IMF, and the World Bank.

The conference is expected to produce a joint statement on Somalia’s financial progress over the past three months following the completion of the country’s debt relief program.
