DJBOUTI (SD) The U.S. government has issued a statement regarding a new airstrike targeting ISIS militants in the mountainous region of Bari in Puntland.

The statement from the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) detailed the operation, stating that the airstrike took place near the village of Dhaadaar, approximately 81 kilometers southeast of Bosaso.

The U.S. military reported that the airstrike, which occurred on Friday, May 31, killed three ISIS militants and confirmed that no civilians were harmed in the operation.

“U.S. forces in Africa will continue to train, advise, and equip partner forces to help them degrade ISIS,” the AFRICOM statement concluded.
