Somalia, World Bank, and IMF to discuss Dept

Nairobi January 15, 2023 (SD) – A meeting between the Ministry of Finance of Somalia, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank was held in Nairobi, Kenya today.

The meeting discussed issues of finance, economic reform, and completing the requirements for the Somalia Debt Relief program.

The Minister of Finance of Somalia, Dr. Cilmi Maxamuud Nuur who spoke at the opening of the meeting said the meeting will focus on financial reform and economic development in the country.

The Minister of Finance added that the meeting is part of a series of ongoing talks between the Somali government the head of the IMF and the World Bank, which have focused on the issues of finance and the economy in Somalia.

The meeting will last for three days, and will also be attended by the Ministry of National Planning of Somalia, the Ministry of Petroleum, the Central Bank of Somalia, officials from the Offices of the President, the Prime Minister, and other representatives of the Federal Government of Somalia.
