Somalia’s Deputy PM Visits flood effected areas in Baidoa

BAIDOA (SD) -Delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, arrived in the city of Baidoa today to assess the situation of the people affected by the heavy rains caused by El Niño.

Salah, accompanied by officials from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), relief organizations, and international partners, visited the areas affected by the floods and other damages caused by the rains.

The Deputy Prime Minister also held a meeting with the President of the South West State, Abdiasis Laftagareen, as well as officials responsible for relief efforts. Salah talked about the need for collective efforts to provide assistance to those affected by the floods and to mitigate the health risks associated with floods.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the Somali people, especially the business community and the Somali diaspora, to contribute to the relief efforts for the affected population.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts by the government and humanitarian organizations to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the heavy rains and flooding in various parts of the country.
