SSC-Khatumo’s main traditional leader: we’re headed for Hargeisa

Addis Ababa (SD) -Garaad Jama Garaad Cali, a member of the Supreme Council of the SSC-Khatumo Traditional Elders, has warned the government of Somaliland amid escalating tensions.

He emphasized that the war with Somaliland isn’t over and that they are perusing those accused of atrocities in Las Anod and that the ongoing situation requires SSC-Khatumo forces and their community to continue their fight.

Garaad Jama stated that the forces of SSC-Khaatumo will retaliate if Somaliland attempts to enter their territories, claiming that if Somaliland insists on violating their land, they will face consequences within their own territories.

“If Somaliland declares or claims our land, or say we will retaliate, and our retaliation will be felt in their cities, particularly Hargeisa,” said Garaad Jama Garaad Cali.

He called on Somaliland to stop the escalation of the conflict in the Oog area, where clashes have occurred in recent days between forces from both sides near the town of Las Anod in the Sool region.

“We are controlling the situation, so that our troops do not cross their territory. If Somaliland claims our territory again, we will release the forces,” continued Garad Jama.

Garaad Jama’s remarks come in the aftermath of intense clashes between local militias and SSC-Khatumo forces, resulting in significant casualties on both sides.

The latest clashes came as SSC-Khatumo forces attacked territories in Somaliland, capturing Buqdharkeyn village in Sool, killing civilians and burnt parts of that village.

The situation continues to evolve, with recent developments including the occupation of Buqdharkeyn , adding to the complex and tense dynamics in the region.
