Mogadishu July 13, 2023 (SD) – The Special Representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia for Somaliland Affairs, Mr. Abdikarim Hussein Guled, held an important meeting today with the United Nations Representative for Somalia, Catriona Laing.

The meeting focused on advancing the dialogue between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland and exploring ways to achieve a mutually beneficial agreement.

The Representative briefed the UN envoy on the progress of the ongoing talks and emphasized the importance of formal negotiations between the two parties, highlighting that the DFS is committed to facilitating all necessary steps for the unity of the Somali nation.

UN Representative for Somalia, Catriona Laing, expressed her country’s support for the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts and commended the readiness of both sides to engage in dialogue.

She further encouraged the continuation of constructive discussions between Somalia and Somaliland, aiming for a successful outcome.
