Mogadishu April 30, 2023 (SD) – The Special Envoy of the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia for Somaliland Affairs, Abdikarim Hussein Guled, today met with the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, Ibrahim Mete Yagli.

The focus of the meeting was on the importance of continuing the dialogue between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland.

The envoy expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the continued efforts of the Turkish Government in supporting the previous talks between Somalia and Somaliland and shared that the FGS is ready to discuss any issue related to Somaliland’s reconciliation.

The Ambassador assured the envoy of Turkey’s full support for the reconciliation process. Earlier today, the Special Envoy of the President of Somalia for Somaliland Affairs, Abdikarim Hussein Guled, also met with the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Mrs. Tiina Intelmann.

The meeting held in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, discussed ways to achieve a successful reconciliation between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland.

The envoy briefed the Ambassador on the progress made so far and the challenges that need to be addressed. The envoy also shared that the Federal Government of Somalia is ready to discuss any issue related to the reconciliation process and expressed his appreciation for the European Union’s continued support of the process.
