MOGADISHU (SD) -Somalia’s international partners have applauded and welcomed Somalia’s recent efforts and commitment to reviewing and amending the comprehensive constitution, acknowledging the government’s crucial steps.

Somalia’s international partners stated that the Somali government has affirmed its international obligations and regional-level commitments to human rights, including children’s rights.

The Partners urged all stakeholders to redouble their efforts towards inclusive and consultative endeavors to build consensus on the vital constitutional review process.

This international support comes in the wake of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s signing of the official document for the Amendment of Articles 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which was approved by a majority vote of Members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia yesterday.

The recent constitutional amendments are yet to garner widespread support and endorsement from the regional administrations of Somalia, many of which were integral parts of the previous agreements outlining the constitutional changes in Somalia.
