Somalia’s top cop wages a big fight against corruption

Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s attorney general, Dr. Suleiman Mohamed Mohamud, said the government has stepped up its fight against corruption this year, which boosted the country’s reputation.

Speaking at a meeting with the judiciary, the attorney general said the judiciary are the ones who must strive for justice, in order to eradicate corruption that has plagued Somalia.

Dr. Suleiman Mohamed pointed out that it is not right that Somalia ranks first among the most corrupt countries in the world every year.

The top cop also said that this year the Judiciary had made the strongest fight against corruption.

Benadir Regional Court recently handed down various sentences to some employees and officials of Government Ministries, who were accused of corruption and abuse of power.
