Lasanod Feb 03, 2023 (SD) – The celebration of the 29th anniversary of Somaliland’s military was held today for the second time in the Sool region, specifically in the capital city of Laascaanood.

High-level government officials and military leaders of Somaliland attended the event.

The celebration comes at a time when residents of Laascaanood have demanded that Somaliland’s military forces leave the region, following accusations that the military used live ammunition against unarmed civilians, killing about 30 and injuring many more. In addition, the blue flag of the Somali government is also being raised in Laascaanood.

The move is also seen as a provocation, as the region’s traditional leaders are holding a summit in Lasanod and are said to be gearing up to announce a Federal regional state.
