Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland government has dismissed reports published recently by the AFP indicating that Somaliland accepted to host Afghan refugees.

In an interview with BBC Somali, Somaliland’s Information Minister Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore said Somaliland government was unaware of reports of Afghan refugees arriving in Somaliland.

Minter Koore added and there were no official information from the government on the matter, contrary to AFP’s reporting.

“It may be the news of diplomats and journalists, but the news that Somaliland is accepting Afghan refugees. We do not confirm the information, and they are just rumors circulating, with no official sources.” said Minister Koore.

The French news agency AFP in a reported published recently said that an official from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an unnamed official from the foreign ministry told AFP that Somaliland was hosting a group of Afghan refugees.
