HAEGEISA (SD) – Today, Somaliland is celebrating the 33rd anniversary of its declaration of independence, with celebrations taking place in many parts of Somaliland and abroad.

The main event is being held at a designated square near the Somaliland Presidential Palace, attended by the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, the Chairpersons of the House of Elders and Representatives, former President of Somaliland Dahir Riyale Kahin, and the Chairman of the Waddani Party.

Officials, including President Muse Bihi Abdi, delivered speeches at the 18th May commemoration event.

Additionally, representatives from foreign countries based in Somaliland and some invited delegations from abroad attended the celebrations.

At the event, various units of the Somaliland armed forces, equipped with weapons and military vehicles, as well as different segments of society, showcased parades and displays.
