Somaliland claims the death of SSC-Khatumo commander with Al Shabab ties

HARGEISA (SD)-The Somaliland government has announced that it has killed an SSC-Khatumo commander based in the city of Buhodle.

This man, named by Somaliland as Abdiqani Sulub, was allegedly the second-in-command of an Al-Shabaab camp in Buhodle.

According to Somaliland, he was killed in the latest battle that occurred this week in the Togdher region.

Somaliland disclosed this information in a statement about the renewed conflict in the region.

The statement from Somaliland claimed that the attacks were an attempt to disrupt the elections planned for November 13, 2024.

Previously, the SSC-Khaatumo interim administration accused Somaliland forces of attacking bases they had in Buuhoodle.

This comes at a time when the federal government of Somalia recently issued a peace appeal, urging the conflicting parties to cease hostilities.
