Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland police have handed over ten Cheetahs destined for illegal transport to the Ministry of Environment and Rural Development.
There were two suspects arrested on the suspicion of trying to smuggle the leopards out of the country.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with Daloodho Police Station and the Ministry of Environment and Rural Development.
The commander of Daloodho police station, Major Kayse Sudi, and the director of the wildlife department at the ministry of environment, Abdinasir Hussein Said, said the suspects had been convicted several times before, and that the ministry had found out that the Cheetahs were to be illegally exported.
On the other hand, they sent a message to the Somaliland public asking for the protection of wildlife and pointed out that it is a resources and blessings of this country.
