Somaliland: COVID-19 Update

Hargeisa (SD) – Mohamed Abdi Hergeye the Director General of Somaliland’s Ministry of Health, on his daily briefing to the nation, confirmed 5 new COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health has confirmed that all five of the new cases are male and are in MarodiJeh region, with ages ranging between 30 to 70 years, making the total number of viral infections in Somaliland 48 cases, the five were among twenty people who were tested recently, the total number of tested across the country is 426.

The director said that the government will continue screening at various entry points to country and will increase the number of people tested.

Director General of the Ministry of Health Mohamed Abdi Heregeye, added that the number of people who have recovered from the illness has risen to six, while the number of people in critical condition has reached 15.

He reminded the public to follow all of the public health advisories, and to shelter in place until the curve is flat.
