HARGEISA-The Somaliland delegation returning from their visit to Taiwan said their trip was successful, and all their requests to the government of Taiwan, including fishing assistance, have been accepted.
The delegation returned to the capital of Somaliland, Hargeisa this morning, and Foreign Minister Dr. Isse Kayd Mohamud, told reporters that the main purpose of their visit was to strengthen relations between Somaliland and Taiwan.
“We have gone there for a number of reasons, first and foremost to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and the two communities, and we have been very successful,” said Minister Kayd.
The minister confirmed that they discussed with Taiwan, furthering development of existing health projects, and new agreements including the development of fisheries and livestock.
“”That trip made it possible for us to be successful in all the projects existing and new, such as health, including fisheries and livestock, health, ICT, minerals and oil,” the Minster told reporters.
The ministers’ visit to Taiwan has angered the Chinese and the Somali government.
The delegation included Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Isse Mohamud Kayd, Minister of Livestock Said Sulub Mohamed, Minister of Finance Dr. Saad Ali Shire, and Minister of Planning Omar Ali Abdillahi.
