Somaliland Education Minister meets with Kenyan counterpart and EU officials

Nairobi (SD) – Somaliland Minister of Education Ahmed Mohamed Diriye, on an official visit met with Kenya’s Minister of Education Prof. George Albert Magoha in Nairobi.

The Minister was accompanied by the Director General of the Somaliland Ministry of Education, the Administrative Director of the Ministry and the Deputy Ambassador of Somaliland to Kenya Sharmarke Guelleh.

The meeting was also attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Education.

The two educational ministers, during their meeting, discussed the educational relationship between Somaliland and Kenya.

This is the first time a Somaliland education minister met and held discussions with his Kenyan counterpart.

On the other hand, the Minister of Education of Somaliland and his delegation, during their stay in Nairobi, they met with EU officials.

They discussed strengthening cooperation between the two parties, increasing funding for education in Somaliland and preparing development projects for education based on the 2022-2026 Education Development Plan.

The Minister’s delegation also met with Adam Smith International, and signed an EU-funded technical agreement to enhance the Ministry’s service to the community and the overall development of education in Somaliland.

The Minister’s delegation also met with the Finnish Embassy in Nairobi and USAID, and discussed increasing funding for education in Somaliland.
