Wadani “$2.5 million goes into private pockets, unpaid staff.”

Hargeisa (SD) – Waddani Opposition Party, has alleged that more than $2 million from government coffers fall into the pockets of individuals, while workers are not paid.

The money, according to the Wadani Party, comes from the COVID-19 laboratory, located at Hargeisa General Hospital, where every traveler has to be tested, with an estimated 60,000 people having been tested each year.

“The COVID-19 test done at the general hospital has so far tested over 60,570 people. It costs $45 per person and 250 to 300 people are tested per day.” said the Wadani Party Social Affairs Secretary Mohamed Sidiq Dhamme addressed the issue.

Adding “In its year of operation it was made of $2.5 million, the equipment of which is a donation, workers at the end of the month are not paid, and that amount goes into their own pockets.”

The Somaliland government has not yet responded to the allegations made by the Wadani Party Social Affairs Secretary Mohamed Sidiq Dhamme.
