Hargeisa (SD) – The Somaliland House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Protection of National Assets, has unearthed and leveled allegations of corruption against some Government ministries and agencies.

The allegations made by the commission are said to be related to the 2018 and 2019 budgets.

The allegations were presented to the House of Representatives in a written form, and was also read before the council by the chairman of the committee for oversight and protection of national assets MP Said Mohamed Elmi Siraadlle.

“We are here to provide you with information and recommendations as a result of our analysis and follow-up of the chief financial officer audit results on the government accounts for the 2018-2019 budgets submitted to the House by the Auditor General.” Said MP Siraadlle.

The audit was compiled by the chief financial officer and was audited by the National Auditor General.

The reasons why the Oversight and Protection of National Assets Committee has prepared a joint report on these two accounts for 2018-2019 are:

1 The results of the Auditor General’s audit, were too close on both accounts
2 The relevant authorities of the audit were the same
3 Recommendations for managing the results of the investigation were often the same.
The budgets for both years accounts were audited at the same time.

The Somaliland Government is yet to respond to the allegations of the Oversight and Protection of National Assets Committee.
