Hargeisa October 26, 2022 (SD) – The Internal Affairs Committee of Somaliland’s House of Representatives today accused the Minister of Internal Affairs of refusing requests to appear before them.

MP Ahmed Nur Guruji, the chairman of the internal committee, accused Minister Mohamed Kahin Ahmed of ignoring the committee’s request.

“The minister of Interior was expected to appear in front of the committee this morning, but the minister did not appear or respond to the request. Therefore, it is clear that the minister violated Article 53 section 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland.” said Guruuje.

Guruuje added that the committee will not write a another request to minister Kahin, but they will refer his matter to the House, so that the house can call him and ask him about his work.

“We are informing the people of Somaliland that the interior committee will not write another letter to the Minister, As per the bylaws of the House of Representatives, we will refer the matter to the House, as to inquire about the country’s security and management issues,” said Guruuje.

It is not the first time that the Minister of the Government of Muse Bihi refused to comply with requests from various Committees of the House.
