Somaliland labels Farmajo’s leadership as a dictatorship

Hargeisa (SD) – The government of the Republic of Somaliland has expressed regret over the political turmoil and lack of democracy in neighboring Somalia.

An statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somaliland said it is deeply concerned about the political crisis in Somalia.

Somaliland government also stated that the political stalemate in Somalia is a testament to Farmajo’s dictatorship which threatens the security of the entire region, which could lead to civil war in Somalia that could displace thousands of people to neighboring countries, including Somaliland.

The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Somaliland stated that since Somaliland regained its independence it has been the star of democracy and stability, With free and fair elections in Somaliland, the Republic of Somaliland will once again go to the polls for the local council and parliamentary elections on May 31 this year.

The Government of the Republic of Somaliland urges the international community to contact Somaliland directly and learn from its experience in the fight against terrorism, nation building from the ground up and holding free and fair elections.
