HARGEISA (SD) – A large delegation from Somaliland led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Issa Kayd Mohamud, left for Taiwan this afternoon.
Dr. Issa Kayd Mohamud will be accompanied by Minister of Finance Saad Ali Shire, Minister of Planning and National Development Omar Ali Abdillahi and Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Said Sulub Mohamed.
The delegation left Hargeisa airport Yesterday and arrived in the Taiwanese capital today.
The Taiwanese Foreign Ministry celebrated the historic first highlighting its significancy. “Delighted to welcome the Somaliland delegation led by Minister Dr. Essa Kayd along with Minister Saad Ali Shire, Minister Omar Amoud and Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Saeed Sulub to visit Taiwan.”
The Somaliland Ministers will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen and will also have dinner with Foreign Minister Joseph Wu and other government officials.
On the other hand, this is the first visit by a large delegation from Somaliland to Taiwan, since the two countries established friendly relations in 2020.
Taiwan supports Somaliland in many areas of development such as agriculture, education, health and technology.
