Badhan (SD) – The commander of the Somaliland military forces, Brigadier General Muse Jama has today opened a new base in Barago district of Sanag region.

The Somaliland commander said more the country’s troops will be deployed to pollster the largest military base in the eastern part of that region.

He added that the troops are not there to attack any one and that the new base would strengthen operations in the region.

However, the opening of the new military base is seen by many as a response to Puntland’s expansion into the region for some time now.

Somaliland and Puntland have repeatedly fought for control of Sool and Sanag regions for several years.
