Nairobi (SD) – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi and his delegation arrived in Kenya, where they were welcomed and escorted to Kempinski Hotel.
The President and his delegation were welcomed at the airport by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Peter Munya and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ababu Namwamba and officials from the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prof. Yassin Haji Mohamud Hiir (Faraton) and Somaliland Ambassador to Kenya Amb. Bashe Awil Omar explained the arrival of the President and the meetings that will take place tomorrow between the President of the Republic of Somaliland and the President of Kenya.
This is not the first time a Somaliland president visited Kenya, in 2006, President Dahir Rayale Kahin met with then President Moi Kibaki in Nairobi.
President Bihi’s visit comes at a time when relations between Kenya and Somalia are deteriorating, and can easily be branded as a Kenyan pressure tactic.
